Boy, 17, Fatally Shot While Sitting in Car

ANAHEIM — A 17-year-old was fatally shot in the head as he sat in his car with friends, police said Thursday.
The victim, whose name was being withheld until authorities could notify his relatives, was shot about 7 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot of El Triumfo Market at North and Lemon streets, Sgt. Steve Rodig said.
The gunman ran away, and the victim’s friends took him to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he died about 7:40 p.m., police said.
Investigators do not know if the shooting was gang-related, Rodig said.
