Mexico, Papua New Guinea May Join Trade Group: Mexico and Papua New Guinea may be welcomed into the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation when the 4-year-old group meets in Seattle in November, but Russia’s request to join is unlikely to be granted, according a White House official. The 15-nation body, which includes the United States, is intended to promote economic growth and cooperation in the Pacific Rim region.
