LAGUNA HILLS : Stop Signs to Be Placed Near Parks

Responding to requests from the Parks and Recreation Commission, the City Council has given the green light to placing stop signs at three intersections near Costeau and Knotty Pine parks.

The council Tuesday approved putting a stop sign for southbound traffic on Velasquez Road at Tasman Road near Costeau Park. It also approved stop signs on eastbound Knotty Pine Road at McIntyre Street and westbound Knotty Pine Road at Mackenzie Street, both near Knotty Pine Park.

A traffic analysis by city officials determined that the stop sign at Velasquez and Tasman was needed because the intersection is offset, with restricted visibility, and is close to Costeau Park. The analysis also recommended that right of way could be made safer and park access could be made easier with the Knotty Pine Road stop signs.

Cost of installing the signs and painting the intersections is estimated at $1,200.
