World IN BRIEF : MEXICO : Strong Earthquake Shakes Large Region

A magnitude 7.2 earthquake centered in the Pacific Ocean near the Mexico-Guatemala border caused noticeable shaking in Mexico City, Guatemala City and San Salvador. No casualties were reported, but there were reports of some damage and scattered power outages in Mexico’s Chiapas state and Guatemala. It was the third earthquake to hit Mexico within 24 hours. No damage or injuries were reported in the earlier quakes.
