Bell Eagles

PREDICTION: Last season was one of triumph and turmoil for Bell. The Eagles were riding the crest of a nine-game winning streak and seemingly headed toward the 3-A Division crown when five starters were suspended for rules violations. Linebackers Joel Lopez and Alain Toca will anchor a strong Bell defense. Bell seeks its fifth league title in seven years.

PREDICTION: Jefferson is powered by a defense that had 22 interceptions, recovered 12 fumbles and surrendered an average of only nine points a game last season. The Democrats return 10 starters, including all-leaguers John Johnson, Eboni Wilson and Isaac Hatley. Hatley rushed for 895 yards and scored 12 touchdowns as a sophomore.

Parker and Roberson accounted for four touchdowns in a 52-0 rout of Narbonne last season. Locke will emphasize the pass more to make the most of Roberson’s talent.
