SAN CLEMENTE : Zoning Ordinance Workshop Offered
Residents and property owners are being urged to attend a public workshop Thursday about the comprehensive update planned for the city’s zoning ordinance.
City officials are seeking public opinion about needed revisions in the zoning ordinance, which contains most of the rules and regulations for residential, commercial and industrial development in the city.
Officials say revisions are needed to make the code consistent with goals and policies set in the city’s recently adopted General Plan.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Ole Hanson Room of the Community Center, 100 Calle Seville.
After about two years’ worth of work and debate, the City Council approved an update to the community’s General Plan earlier this summer.
While the council did scrap a controversial rezoning plan for the Avenida Pico/Los Molinos industrial area, much debate remains over a land-use designation in the plan that possibly could allow development on the bottom of slide-scarred Verde Canyon.
The plan also leaves open the possibility of a 123-room resort being built on the Beachcomber Motel and Robison home sites in the Pier Bowl and allows for the potential relocation of San Clemente High School.
For more information on the update of the zoning ordinance, contact Kelly Main in the Community Development Department at (714) 498-2533, Ext. 3305.
