Cypress’ Weiner Wins Junior Tournament

Glenn Weiner of Cypress won the USTA Junior International Boys’ Grass Court tennis championship Sunday in Philadelphia.
Weiner defeated Tommy Haas of Germany, 6-1, 6-4, in the final match. Weiner dominated from the start, winning 12 of the first 13 points.
Weiner reached the boys’ final by beating Mexico’s Gerardo Venegas, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5.

Chris Tontz and Quynh Le, both from UC Irvine, won the men’s and women’s Irvine Open tennis titles Sunday at Heritage Park.
Tontz beat Devin Bowen of Texas Christian University, 6-2, 6-7, 7-6. Le took the first set, 6-4, from Pazula Dolberg of Anaheim, and was leading, 5-3, in the second when Dolberg retired because of injury.
