Titan Powers U.S. Past Mexico in Baseball

Dante Powell of Cal State Fullerton drove in four runs on two homers Friday at Masaya, Nicaragua, to lead the United States over Mexico, 14-4, in qualifying for the 1994 World Championships.
The game was stopped in the eighth inning by the 10-run rule.
Powell homered in the third for the United States (8-0), which plays Canada, Colombia or Nicaragua in today’s semifinals.

Janie Eickhoff, of Los Alamitos, finished third in the 3,000-meter individual pursuit at the World Cycling Championships in Hamar, Norway.
Seattle’s Rebecca Twigg set a world record in the event with a time of 3 minutes 37.347 seconds. France’s Marion Clignet was second in 3:39.214. Eickhoff finished in 3:39.937.
