One of two gunmen who stole a United Parcel Service truck Friday was wounded when he allegedly opened fire on police while abandoning the vehicle.
The wounded man was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s officer-involved shooting team took charge of the investigation.
The vehicle was stolen in the 5100 block of Jefferson Boulevard about 11:10 a.m., said Sgt. Terry Johns.
Police chased the truck to Coco and Nicolete avenues, where the suspect opened fire on officers and was shot, Johns said. Another man fled and was being sought.
