Texas Murderer Executed

HUNTSVILLE, Tex. — An inmate was executed by injection Thursday for stabbing and shooting to death a man who came upon a burglary. Joseph Paul Jernigan, 39, had signed a confession in which he said he killed Edward Hale, 75, after a 1981 break-in at the man’s house because he feared Hale could identify him.
