Changing of the Guard Cut to Alternate Days

LONDON — Red-coated soldiers protecting Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II are to stop changing the guard at Buckingham Palace every day, disappointing tourists.
The Defense Ministry said Wednesday that the royal pageant at the palace gates, one of London’s top tourist attractions, will only be held every other day beginning this weekend.
It said that the soldiers, who wear crimson tunics and big bearskin helmets, are needed for other less eye-catching duties in Britain’s shrinking army.
