The Montreal Expos, who have long sought a Quebec native, moved a step closer Saturday.
The Expos obtained left-hander Denis Boucher of the Montreal suburb of Lachine from the San Diego Padres for minor league infielder Austin Manahan and either cash or a player to be picked.
Boucher is 3-9 in the majors, spending part of the 1991 season with the Toronto Blue Jays and part of 1992 with the Cleveland Indians.
