GARDEN GROVE — A carjacking that began in Garden Grove late Saturday ended minutes later in Orange when a police sergeant recognized the automobile from a description broadcast on police radios, according to Garden Grove police.
One suspect was arrested.
The car, a late 1970s Oldsmobile, was taken at 8:31 p.m., according to Garden Grove Police Sgt. Paul Prince. The car was spotted 19 minutes later in Orange after its description was broadcast, he added.
Prince said an undetermined number of carjackers “fanned out on foot and fled,” but that one had been caught by late Saturday. The suspect wasn’t identified.
Because the investigation was still under way, Prince said officers were still determining how many people were involved in the crime.
Prince did not know whether the driver of the vehicle was injured in the carjacking.
