THOUSAND OAKS : Team Rideshare Festival Planned
An outdoor ride-sharing festival, in which commuters can look for car-pool partners, will take place today in the grass lot behind the Amgen offices at 2150 W. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks. The site formerly served as Thousand Oaks City Hall.
The event, running from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., will include lunch, entertainment and a prize giveaway. It is expected to draw about 1,000 workers from Amgen and neighboring businesses, who have received flyers that will admit them to the grounds.
The festival, sponsored by the California Department of Transportation, is part of the Team Rideshare program, which encourages workers in five Southern California counties to car-pool to and from work at least once a week.
Participants will wear color-coded name tags, corresponding to the community where they live. Commuters will then look for people with the same color code and make arrangements to car-pool.
The Thousand Oaks festival will be the second Team Rideshare event in Ventura County. A similar gathering was held last week in a Simi Valley industrial park.
