Best-Selling Projects: More numbers--more good news: The best-selling new home projects in Orange County during the first quarter typically sold for less than the more expensive homes that have helped keep the county among the nation’s most expensive markets.

Leading sales for attached homes was Rancho Vera Cruz in Tustin, one of the Irvine Co.’s converted apartment complexes. A total of 38 units in the condominium development were sold between Jan. 1 and March 31--about three sales a week. Base prices ranged from $89,900 to $155,900 and average sales price was $119,200, according to the Myers Group, consultants in Newport Beach.

The best-selling detached homes in the county for the first quarter were in Kaufman & Broad Homes Inc.’s Vintage Promenade tract in the Foothill Ranch development in Trabuco Canyon.
