Workers’ Comp Fraud Suit Dismissed: The racketeering lawsuit by Ticketmaster accusing two former employees and their doctors and lawyers has been dismissed largely on technical grounds by U.S. District Judge David V. Kenyon of Los Angeles. A Ticketmaster lawyer said the company plans to reopen the case shortly by submitting an amended racketeering complaint. Separately, Ticketmaster settled a similar suit against psychiatrist Byron Crawford and his medical group, Wellington Medical Corp., for what the company said was “a material sum.” The Ticketmaster cases have drawn attention in legal circles, marking apparently the first time a California employer has attacked alleged workers’ compensation abuses through federal racketeering suits.
