The bodies of two men, both killed by gunshot wounds to the chest, were discovered at separate locations in the northeast San Fernando Valley on Friday morning, raising the number of shooting deaths in the area to six this week.

Los Angeles police found the latest victims about two miles apart south of the Foothill Freeway, Los Angeles Police Department Homicide Detective Marshall White said.

White said police do not believe the two Sylmar slayings are related.

The first victim, described as about 17, was found about midnight Friday morning in the parking lot of the Roxford Inn Hotel in the 14900 block of Roxford Street.

“No one here at work knew who he was,†said Ben Chico, who works at the hotel’s front desk.

About six hours later, police found the second victim, described as a man in his early twenties, in a residential area in the 14100 block of Foothill Boulevard.

Police have not identified either victim and have no one in custody, White said.
