VAN NUYS : 2 Cleanup Programs Scheduled for Today
Two separate community cleanups promoting beautification and targeting graffiti are scheduled for today.
The 10th Annual Van Nuys Clean-Up Day will provide an opportunity to paint out graffiti throughout a 15-square-mile area, while the Stagg Street Elementary School Fix-Up Day will focus paint brushes on the front of the school.
More than 200 people are expected to attend the Van Nuys Clean-Up Day, which runs from 7 a.m. to noon and includes free breakfast, lunch and T-shirts. The event is headquartered at Delano Park, 15100 Delano St., and will also remove trash and weeds from the community. It is being sponsored by the Mid San Fernando Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Neighbors are also encouraged to join the Stagg Street School cleanup, located at 7839 Amestoy Ave., Van Nuys. Painting will begin at 8 a.m. and continue until the job is done. Participants will be rewarded with sandwiches and refreshments.
