Man Who Robbed Bank Is Sought
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI are searching for a man who robbed a Bank of America in Westlake of nearly $1,500 in cash Monday.
The suspect entered the bank at 954 Westlake Blvd. about 9:55 a.m. and handed the teller a note demanding money. The suspect told the teller he had a gun, though no weapon was visible, sheriff’s Lt. Bill Montijo said.
After the teller handed him money, the suspect fled on foot and was last seen walking toward Westlake Boulevard.
The robbery is still under investigation, Montijo said. The suspect is described as a man in his 30s, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds, with brown, balding hair and a ponytail.
The Thousand Oaks Crime Stoppers program is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case. Crime Stoppers can be reached at 494-TALK or 656-1500.
