Lockheed Weapons Center Moving to Texas

Lockheed Corp. said it plans to move its weapons systems simulation center at Rye Canyon to Ft. Worth, Tex., by the end of the year, part of an ongoing consolidation at the Calabasas-based aerospace concern.

About 45 people are now employed at the Rye Canyon facility.

The move will result in the relocation of about 18 of those workers and as many as six will be laid off. The remainder will stay on to run the records center and electronic test chamber at the site.

The weapons system simulation center is working on the Air Force’s F-22 advanced tactical fighter program.

That work is expected to be completed this summer, after which Lockheed will begin moving its simulation equipment to Ft. Worth, where it recently purchased some General Dynamics Corp. operations.
