UC IRVINE NOTES : Swimmer Commits to Anteaters

Swimmer Gwen Yoshizumi of Walnut High has signed a letter of intent with UC Irvine, the school announced.
Yoshizumi has been Walnut’s MVP the last two seasons, leading the team to consecutive Southern Section 2-A titles.
She finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke and 12th in the 200 freestyle at the section championships.
The Anteaters also announced that Janet Johnson of Torrance West High has signed with Irvine. She is ranked 13th in Southern California junior girls’ singles, but didn’t compete in high school tennis.

Irvine water polo players Steve Gill and Marc Hunt will compete in the Alamo Cup ’93 June 9-13 at various Southern California sites.
