Nation IN BRIEF : WASHINGTON, D.C. : DNC Ends Private Fund-Raising Project

The Democratic National Committee dissolved the private foundation it had set up to solicit money for a bipartisan public relations campaign on behalf of President Clinton’s health care plan. The effort will now be part of the party’s regular fund raising. DNC spokeswoman Catherine Moore said that Chairman David Wilhelm “has decided the National Health Care Campaign should come back to the DNC as a project of the DNC.” She said newspaper reports raising questions about the bipartisanship of a foundation dedicated to marketing a central piece of Clinton’s program had contributed to the decision.
