Cherokee Ends Quick Bankruptcy: The Sunland-based apparel maker emerged from a reorganization under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy laws after only a five-week stay. Cherokee filed mainly to get confirmation of a refinancing plan under which its debt and preferred-stock holders swapped a large portion of their holdings for control of Cherokee’s common stock. The company has struggled under the weight of its debt load and the recession.
