Nicole Haislett overcame the effects of a rib injury to win the 200-meter freestyle, at the Alamo Challenge in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
Haislett, 20, a three-time NCAA champion in the 200 freestyle and winner of a U.S.-best three gold medals at the 1992 Olympics, defeated Melanie Valerio and Lisa Martin in 2:04.48 to win her only event of the three-day meet.
