New GLAAD/LA Head: Los Angeles arts leader Lee Werbel, who most recently ran the California Confederation of the Arts’ Southern California field office, has been appointed as executive director of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation/Los Angeles, which promotes balanced and accurate images of lesbians and gays in the media. Werbel’s previous arts posts included managing director for the L.A. County Music and Performing Arts Commission’s State/Local Partnership Program, president of the L.A. Arts Democratic Club, and a consultant to the L.A. Cultural Affairs Department and the Dance Resource Center.
