David K. Beavon, 75, a leading inventor of pollution controls for oil refineries and natural gas plants. A chemical engineer, Beavon garnered 40 patents for his inventions, which included the Beavon sulfur removal process and the Selectox process to help control sulfur pollution. Among his awards were the chemical engineering practice award from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the personal achievement award from Chemical Engineering magazine, both in 1980. On May 12 in Oakdale of cancer.
