But Halo fans who fondly remember the affable young Howell can take heart: He hit two home runs--one a grand slam--to lead the Yakult Swallows to a 14-7 victory Tuesday. . . . Howell, 32, who won last year’s home run and batting titles for the Tokyo team, still hopes to return to the major leagues in the United States.
