Two Hurdlers Sign With CSUN
Hurdlers Elinor Tolson of Fountain Valley High and Marquis Jones of Hawthorne have signed letters of intent with Cal State Northridge.
Tolson placed fifth in the girls’ 300-meter low hurdles and ninth in the 100 lows in last year’s state championships. She also finished second in the 300 lows and third in the 100 lows in the Southern Section 3-A Division finals.
Tolson was regarded as one of the top returning hurdlers in the state after lowering her personal bests to 14.23 seconds in the 100 hurdles and to 43.71 in the 300 lows as a junior. But she was hampered by a knee injury during the early part of this season and stopped competing last month because she wanted to let it heal.
Jones has personal bests of 14.59 in the 110 high hurdles and 38.80 in the 300 intermediates.
He placed second in the seeded high hurdles race of the Arcadia Invitational on April 10.
