Burlington Air Has 1st-Quarter Profit
IRVINE — Burlington Air Express Inc. said Wednesday that it had a $1.5-million operating profit for the first quarter. That contrasted with a $1.1-million loss for the same period a year earlier.
Quarterly revenue rose 15% to $231 million from $201 million. Burlington’s domestic volume grew by 9%, and international business grew by 20%. Its strongest growth for the quarter was in Pacific Rim business, which grew by 45%.
Burlington, based in Irvine, is a subsidiary of Pittston Co. in Stamford, Conn.
