Sergi Bruguera won the Monte Carlo Open for the second time in three years at Monte Carlo, Monaco, after a rain-forced postponement. The Spaniard blew a 5-0 first-set lead against Frenchman Cedric Pioline, then emerged from a 90-minute rain break to win a tiebreaker and the second set for a 7-6 (7-2), 6-0 victory.
