Platinum to Buy British Company
IRVINE — Platinum Software Corp. said Monday that it has agreed to acquire Cypher Business Systems, a British software developer. Terms of the proposal were not disclosed.
The acquisition would help Platinum expand its customer base in Europe, said Gerald Blackie, president and chief executive. Platinum, based in Irvine, specializes in software for financial operations and manufacturing processes. It recently purchased a New Zealand publisher of accounting software.
Platinum reported a $1.8-million profit on $22.9 million in revenue for the nine-month period ended March 31. Its 250 employees serve about 40,000 customers worldwide.
