Fiery Deaths at Waco Compound

Administrations come and go, but what seems to prevail is man’s inhumanity to man. The blaze at David Koresh’s Branch Davidian compound in Waco was not for the good of the public, but a barbaric exercise of power.

We live in a world of many faces, colors and beliefs. A country rooted in the fundamentals of democracy should not wage war against mutineers. Koresh’s followers were just that, with deep beliefs and convictions for their actions. Responding to their cause need not have been met with psychological war tactics and a burning inferno as a finale. Perhaps simple negotiation and patience would have been a better solution.

The money and time our government devoted to a group of less than 100 people would have been better spent feeding the hungry and the impoverished. Life goes on, but why must we be privy to such inhumanity and lack of priorities, by a government of the people, for the people?
