‘Sayonara’ on Stage: A new musical version of James Michener’s 1954 best-selling novel “Sayonara” is opening Sunday at Houston’s Music Hall, capping its 25th anniversary season. A non-musical version of the story was a 1957 film starring Marlon Brando, but this is the first stage version. The tale, set in 1952 Japan, follows an Air Force major who is engaged to a general’s daughter but falls in love with a Japanese actress.
