All New Complaint

This is in reference to a phrase I am constantly hearing on television which appears to be a favorite of many promo announcers. I refer to, “This week we have an all new ‘Murphy Brown,’ � or an “all new ‘Cheers’ � or an “all new whatever.�

What is this “all new� stuff? To the best of my knowledge I have never seen a “partly new� show, or if I have it was not advertised as such, yet the inference here is that all “new� shows are not “all� new. Do they put a new ending and/or a new beginning on some shows, or maybe they use the beginning and end but put a “new middle� on some “old� shows. It certainly is a puzzle.
