PREP ROUNDUP : Noffsinger Perfect for 6 2/3 Innings, Beats Santa Ana

Stephanie Noffsinger lost a perfect game with two outs in the top of the seventh, but finished with a one-hitter as Huntington Beach beat Santa Ana, 3-0, in a Sunset League softball game Friday at Huntington Beach.
Stacey Lumley ended the perfect game with a line single up the middle on a 2-2 pitch. Noffsinger (5-6) retired the next batter for the final out. She had nine strikeouts.
Becky Erickson had two hits, including a double, and an RBI for the Oilers (6-10, 3-3).

Ocean View 8, Edison 1--Kathy Ponce (8-0) pitched a two-hitter to lead Ocean View (13-4, 5-1).
Marina 14, Westminster 0 (5 innings, mercy rule)--Marcy Crouch pitched a two-hitter and had a triple for visiting Marina (13-2, 5-0).

In Sea View League softball:
Newport Harbor 10, University 6--Jessica Bozeman tripled with the bases loaded in the sixth inning to help the Sailors (10-4, 4-2) break open the game.
Woodbridge 13, Saddleback 0 (5 innings, mercy rule)--Jackie Sukiasian pitched a one-hitter to lead Woodbridge (15-5, 5-1). Ann Marie Risquez had three hits and four RBIs.
Irvine 10, Corona del Mar 0 (5 innings, mercy rule)--Rebecca Smith had three hits for Irvine.
Tustin 2, Santa Margarita 1 (16 innings)--Shawna Bray had a sacrifice fly in the 16th inning for visiting Tustin. Bray allowed four hits over 16 innings for the victory.

San Clemente 1, Capistrano Valley 0--Jamie Stark doubled and scored on Heather Hollis’ single in the first inning for San Clemente (5-7, 2-0). Niclana Tolmassoff pitched her second one-hitter of the season for San Clemente.
Mater Dei 7, Mission Viejo 6--Veronica Saldavar drove in Marie O’Beck and Kim Fox with a pinch-hit double in the bottom of the seventh to lead Mater Dei (12-2, 2-0).

Southern California Christian 11, Downey Calvary Chapel 0 (6 innings, mercy rule)--Candle Silva pitched a two-hitter and had 13 strikeouts for Southern California Christian (9-2).

In nonleague girls’ swimming:
Villa Park 131, Buena Park 31--Michelle Morris broke a 1988 Villa Park school record for the 100-yard butterfly, winning in 1:01.44. The previous record, held by Tara Blasi, was 1:01.60.
Ocean View 94, Santa Ana Valley 12--Shannon Dilday won the 200 freestyle (2:18.3) and 100 freestyle (1:03.1) and was a member of the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams for visiting Ocean View (4-4).
