Judge Allows Dialysis Cut Off for Woman, 83

JERUSALEM — A Tel Aviv judge ruled Friday that a terminally ill woman may be disconnected from a dialysis machine, setting a precedent for the Jewish state, Israel radio said.
District Judge Uri Goren made a bedside visit to Rachel Tsaadi, 83, at Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot, then issued a ruling allowing the machine to be disconnected.
Goren cited Jewish law saying no more hardship than necessary should be caused the ill.
