A Protestant shopkeeper who forgave the Irish Republican Army for killing his daughter said a secret meeting he held with the outlawed group was “quite pointless.” Gordon Wilson, who had persisted with his peace overture despite condemnation from fellow Protestants, said IRA members told him they were prepared to go on killing for the next 40 years if necessary. Wilson sought the meeting after an IRA bombing killed two boys in England.
