Weiner, Lin Post Upsets in Easter Bowl Tennis

MIAMI — Orange County players upset two of the top-seeded competitors in the boys’ 18 division of the Easter Bowl Junior Tennis Championships Wednesday at the Doral Resort and Country Club.
In the third round, ninth-seeded Glenn Weiner of Cypress beat No. 1 Eddie Jacques of Huntsville, Ala., 7-6, 6-3 (6-4), and No. 16 Eric Lin of Anaheim beat No. 3 Wayne Boich of Aventura, Fla., 7-6 (8-6), 6-1.
“Winning the Easter Bowl would make my year,” Weiner said. “I was mentally tough out there today.”
In the quarterfinals of the girls’ 16 division, No. 4 Brandi Freudenberg of Orange beat Cena Hackler of Myrtle Beach, S.C., 6-3, 6-1.
