Fountain Valley Holds Off Late Rally

HUNTINGTON BEACH — With the potential tying and winning runs in scoring position, Fountain Valley third baseman Frank Granillo caught Chris Yadrick’s line drive for the final out to give the Barons an 8-7 victory over Huntington Beach Friday in a Sunset League baseball game.
Rich Montgomery had three RBIs and pitched the final 1 2/3 innings to earn the save for Fountain Valley (8-4, 3-1 in league).
In the top of the seventh, Granillo singled home Matt Roman from second to give Fountain Valley an 8-6 lead.
Yadrick and Ryan Brannan each had three hits for Huntington Beach (1-3 in league).
