Daily News Reporter Alesia Honored by Associated Press Sports Editors

Mark Alesia of the Los Angeles Daily News had the top story on enterprise reporting in judging for the 1992 Associated Press Sports Editors national contest.

Julie Cart and Theresa Munoz of The Times earned honorable mention in the enterprise reporting category for papers with more than 175,000 circulation. Brian Patterson, Bob Cox and Daniel Lewis of the Daily Breeze were third in the 50,000-175,000 division, and Bill Plunkett of the Desert Sun gained honorable mention in the less-than-50,000 division.

Other Southern California reporters honored:

In the best news story category, Mark Heisler and Danny Robbins of The Times and Eric Noland of the Daily News received honorable mention; Robbins and Elliott Almond got honorable mention in investigative reporting; Ron Rapoport of the Daily News was fifth in feature stories, and Paul Oberjuerge of the San Bernardino Sun was fifth in column writing.

The Times had previously been named one of the top 10 daily and Sunday sections.
