The Junipero Serra branch of the Los Angeles Public Library, destroyed in last spring’s riots, will reopen Friday.
The library, at 4301 S. Figueroa St., will have a new collection of 15,000 books, videocassettes, and periodicals in English and Spanish. More than 5,000 books will be added to the collection later this year, library officials said.
The reopening of the library was made possible through $750,000 in grants from donors.
The opening festivities begin at noon and feature jazz, gospel and mariachi bands.
