Showing the Human Side of Officers

I am concerned about the editorial, “Murder Thins the Thin Blue Line†(March 11).

There are thousands of young people who could rationalize that police work is too dangerous to consider.

To state that six O.C. officers have been murdered since 1985 is false and misleading. Yes, six have died while on duty. Only one, Fullerton Officer Tommy De La Rosa, was murdered. The others died in helicopter crashes (3) and traffic accidents (2).

Our O.C. officers are well-trained and perform their jobs with skill. Let’s not give people the impression otherwise. Officer Dallies will be missed, not only by his family but by all O.C. residents who value these men on the Thin Blue Line.
