Conservancy to Receive Land From Getty Trust
The Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy will receive 27.3 acres of open space from the J. Paul Getty Trust on Wednesday.
The dedication ceremony will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Crestwood Hills Park Clubhouse, 1000 Hanley Ave., Brentwood.
The land grant was made possible by Crestwood Hills Assn., which bought the land, a wooded parcel in Kenter Canyon, from the Getty Trust and donated it to the conservancy for preservation and public recreational use.
“This is our favorite kind of acquisition, one that we don’t have to pay for,†said Joseph Edmiston, executive director of the conservancy. “The public gets what it needs--a new park to explore and enjoy,â€
Plans for the property include building a trail that will connect to other trails in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.
