Regarding Jack Mathews’ “La-La Land No More†(Feb. 21), about L.A.’s changing image in the movies:
I cannot believe there’s really a scene in “Falling Down†in which Michael Douglas trashes a Korean market.
First, Spike Lee’s “Do the Right Thing†made it cool to dis Korean grocers. Now apparently a white filmmaker thinks it’s cool too. There’s a lot that pisses me off about L.A. But Korean grocers are not one of them.
I haven’t seen the movie, but it sounds like irresponsible, mindless filmmaking. Koreans don’t need this.
