Figure skater Christopher Bowman, who won a national championship last year and finished fourth at the Olympics, was beaten at a hotel in a seedy Pittsburgh neighborhood, according to a police report.
Bowman was treated Tuesday for injuries to the ribs and head, according to Pittsburgh police, who said an ambulance had transported Bowman to Mercy Hospital.
According to the police report, Bowman got into a fight at the Ellis Hotel in Pittsburgh’s crime-ridden Hill District at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. He called for help after returning to his room at the Hyatt Hotel.
Contacted in his room, Bowman said the police report was wrong. He said he lost his wallet on a downtown street and he denied being at the Ellis Hotel. He said he called for an ambulance because he was sick.
