Doctors Protest McDonald’s Meat Ad: A physicians group wants the Federal Trade Commission to investigate a McDonald’s promotion that tells children that meat “can make it easier to do things like climb higher and ride your bike farther.” Dr. Neal D. Barnard, president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, said the statement “is a false claim and should be withdrawn.” The group says meat should be used only as a garnish or flavoring. A McDonald’s Corp. spokeswoman said the company developed the advertising message with the American Dietetic Assn., based on the Agriculture Department’s food guide pyramid.
