PREP ROUNDUP : Irvine Defeats San Clemente in Boys’ Swimming

Abraham Chuang, Steve Ronson and Jason Lezak each won two events to help Irvine defeat San Clemente, 100-83, in a nonleague boys’ swimming meet Tuesday at Heritage Park in Irvine.
Ronson qualified for the Southern Section Division II meet in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100 breaststroke and Lezak qualified in the 200 freestyle for Irvine (1-0). Irvine’s 400 medley relay team also qualified with a time of 1 minute 44.85 seconds.
In other nonleague boys’ swimming:
El Toro 94, Corona del Mar 76--John Simmons was a double winner with victories in the 200 freestyle and the 100 backstroke for El Toro (1-0).
In nonleague girls’ swimming:
Esperanza 134, Fullerton 22--Sheri Christensen won the 200 freestyle and 200 individual medley as Esperanza won its season opener.
San Clemente 86, Irvine 84--Irvine’s 200 medley relay team of Ami Bodas, Molly Zak, Alice Huszcz and Wendy O’Brien qualified for the Division II meet.
In nonleague boys’ golf:
Servite 207, Valencia 208, Diamond Bar 229--Jeff McGraw shot one-under-par 34 for Servite at Alta Vista. The 18-hole match concludes Thursday at the Hacienda Golf Club in La Habra Heights.
La Quinta 210, Westminster 245--Alex Yi had a one-over 36 for La Quinta at Meadowlark.
In nonleague boys’ tennis:
Esperanza 16, Ocean View 2--Devin Lopez and Dinesh Moorjani swept at No. 3 doubles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for host Esperanza (1-0).
Villa Park 16, Katella 2--Senior Jason DeVera swept at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for Villa Park (1-0).
