Berlin Boosts: Oscar nominees Denzel Washington (“Malcolm X”) and Michelle Pfeiffer (“Love Field”) got nods from the Berlin International Film Festival on Monday, winning top acting honors. And the festival’s grand prize for best picture, named the Golden Bear, was shared by two Chinese-language films, “Xian Hunnu” (“The Women From the Lake of Scented Souls”) by director Xie Fei of China and “Hsi Yen” (“The Wedding Banquet”) by director Ang Lee of Taiwan. Britain’s Andrew Birkin took home the best directing award for the brother-sister incest story “The Cement Garden.” The festival also honored actor Gregory Peck, 76, and director Billy Wilder, 86, with Golden Bears for lifetime achievement.
