MOORPARK : Councilman Denies Accusing Ex-Official

Moorpark Councilman Scott Montgomery has denied blaming a former councilwoman for triggering a Department of Motor Vehicles investigation against him.
During a council meeting Wednesday, Montgomery said he never blamed Eloise Brown for making the complaint that launched the DMV investigation into whether the Ford Bronco that hesometimes drives was properly registered.
“I did not, at any time, accuse Eloise Brown or anyone else as being the source of the complaints,” Montgomery said.
The Times reported Saturday that Montgomery owed the county more than $5,000 in back property taxes and was being investigated by the DMV over the registration of the Bronco.
The article quoted Montgomery as saying that a complaint by Brown spawned the DMV inquiry.
Brown said Thursday that she accepted Montgomery’s comments.
“I really resented the accusation,” she said.
“I definitely feel it was the only rational and gentlemanly thing to do.”
