The Cincinnati Reds went to a salary arbitration hearing with All-Star infielder Bip Roberts.
Roberts asked the arbitrator for $3.9 million, up from his $1.55 million he made last season. The Reds said they would pay him $2.7 million.
A decision is expected soon.
Pitcher Tim Belcher, the only other Cincinnati player awaiting arbitration, has a hearing scheduled for Thursday.
